The famously reclusive Belgian designer behind the eponymously named label has quit the design house which has been owned by Diesel for the past 7 years, losing the rights to his own name.
Martin Margiela is shrouded in mystery in the fashion world and only last year one single picture was published of him in the New York Times. Margiela never took a catwalk bow at the end of a show, or gave interviews. Bosses have said they will not replace him by any big name designers- as yet preferring to concentrate on fresh design talent.
