LINGO & STATIS Rocked Queen Of Hoxton Last Friday!!

Lingo is in the studio with us today and is one of the most talented geezers in London. A singer/ songwriter who can spit bars & MC, with a strong sense of style, Lingo is the quintuple threat!
He performed at Queen Of Hoxton last week Friday supported by Statis Beatnik on the wheels of Steel.

My Thursday night out cont....Mariah Carey's Party at Jalouse, London, Nov 2009

After I went to the Reebok Pump Party on Thursday I went off into the West End to spin for Mariah's Party at Jalouse nightclub on Hanover Square, London.
There were about 400 people outside trying to get in alongside press & pappz & some of my fabulous friends who had really dressed up for the occassion.



Statis and I had a bit of cheek from the jumped up guest lists girls who were getting their knickers in a twist busy doing nothing (seriously, if you cant handle your job of ticking people's names off a list- dont do it! :) until one very charming door guy let us through the rope chain- it was another matter trying to get my fabulous friends in, but thats a whole different story.
















As I walked into the club, I could barely move to get my reocrds to the DJ booth it was so busy. The crowd varied from UK artists to choice fm & kiss radio dj's to chelsea bankers, tv presenters and Mariah fans. I kinda like a mixture of people, I think it makes a party more interesting, but one thing we all had in common was we were jammed in like sardines.


I bagsy'd myslef the step into the DJ booth (not even the actual booth!) and plotted there.
The Dj's were given exacting instructions as to what records to play and what not to play- which is always the way with artist parties (no other female artists in competition with said artist etc, stick to hip hop and Rnb we were told, no house- apparently Mariah hates house) but I have never been one to stick to the rules, so I wanted to play for the crowd so that they enjoyed themselves.

Most people were there just to catch a glimpse of Mariah or to do business, ei: be seen in the right places by the music industry, but there were some people who were just there to go to a cool party and have fun. Like the owner of Jalouse who wanted his members and crowd to have a great night.
When I got there the resident DJ Hery Reph had already played and Shortee Blitz was already in full swing.
Then the shouts from the door 'Mariah's coming Mariah's coming' were heard from the DJ booth and Shortee put on Mariah's 'Fantasy' remix.

Here is the video of Mariah coming into Jalouse- sorry about the quality, I was so squashed in the DJ booth! The funniest party of the night for me was Alan Carr girating on a table with his shirt undone to the waist:) love it



Mariah was coming...
and so was her whole entourage, I didnt really recognise any of them except I saw my old friend Idris Elba in her section after they had all settled down- oh and Louis Walsh heh heh..

I have spun at a few things for Mariah and I think she seems like a very nice lady, I think the hype is all created by her PR, record companies & everyone else. But it seems to work- people love it.
Mariah stayed around 45 minutes and was swept out as quickly as she came in and then off into a Rolls Royce Phantom and off home- I bet she stopped for a kebab on the way though :)

The club was actually more fun after all the commotion had calmed down and everyone else started to enjoy themselves. I span everything from Jay Z to Prince, Depeche Mode, New Young Pony Club, vinez Cartel & lots in beteween.
I had a fun night.

Tonight Im going to the Reebok 20th Anniversary Party for the Pump & DJing at Mariah Carey's Party @ Jalouse, London

Im spinning at the super club Jalouse alongside Henry Relph & Shortee Blitz, there is a whole heap of music Mariah doesn't like, so it should be interesting...I'm just going with Statis to have fun!

Much work, gigging, Bday celebrations & cake was had this past 4 days!

The last 5 days has comprised of me spinning in store for H&M launch at Bluewater, gigs for my friend Juliette's Bday on Friday and celebrating STATIS' (my co-member from Beatnik) Birthday too! There was much drinking, bowling at Shoreditch House, followed by a messy night out, jokes & cake. Thanks to my sister Tina for baking an amazing chocolate cake which we decorated with all Statis' nicknames :)

BEATNIK hearts Chromeo- The genius that is the Chromeo boys

Statis turned me onto Chromeo a while ago, I was a late-comer by his standards. They are officially one of our (Beatnik's) favourite bands ever. I love their 80's synths, lust after their keyboard skills, their touches of Hall & Oats, Prince and PFunk and their cute styles. BEATNIK rock the H&M Fashion Evening for VOGUE, Oxford Street, Ldn, Sept 10th 09

Statis and I rocked up to the Vogue shopping evening with H&M last Thursday to do a back to back dj set. I really enjoy DJing back to back with Statis as we have the same taste in music but with many different influences. Statis loves Squarepusher, Al Greene, Drum & Bass, Slick Rick, Mr Scruff, Mr Vegas and anything obscure and super cool underground...and I love 80's, hip hop, old house & tons of other stuff. Mixed together we were pulling some TUNES out of our very long sleeves! Very fun night- my favourite part was a beautiful lady of a certain age skanking to Musical Youth! You rock!!


Check out some of Hennes hot pieces fro A/W 09, there are some really well designed, edgy clothes. I had to stop myself from shopping in between records!

The best record of the year. The best female artist of her generation. Peaches- 'Serpentine'

Peaches is the real deal, with so many contrived acts in the charts right now trying to copy a sound she pioneered, she is still fresh, a style icon and way ahead of the game. I love the way she writes songs, I love her style and her 'I dont give a fu**' attitude. Peaches Rocks.
Her new record 'Serpentine' is for me the record of the year and I dont think I could love the video more if I tried. Amazing.
