Jaeger Rocks

I used to think as Jaeger as a classic but older woman's label, my Mum used to love it and rock workwear from Jaeger in the 70's and 80's- which looking back at how fly my Mum was in pictures now, should have been a huge hint as to Jaeger's enduring style.

Recently they have gone to the top of my style radar with their latest collection. Their Jaeger London A/W Campaign is shot amazingly and looks so beautiful and soooo London. (Brownie points from me being a supporter of all things LDN)

Stuart Stockdale, Jaeger's Design Director said “We wanted to shoot a campaign for Autumn/Winter 2010 that captures the iconic spirit of Jaeger London, combined with an impressive London backdrop - evoking the glamour of all the great Jaeger campaigns from the past, whilst making a strong modern statement.”

They have also brought out their 'Boutique' Range which is aimed at the younger Jaeger customer and contains some really dope pieces. I actually want the pin tuck jeans and the frill coat (amazing) the leopard dress and the Chanel inspired jackets are great. Think I might rock some Jaeger for up- coming gigs and tour.

Kelis- Face of Graduate Fashion Week Sponsored by River Island

River Island have nabbed Kelis to be the face of Graduate Fashion Week. It is the sixth consecutive year they have sponsored the Graduate event and the pieces designed will be sold in 40 River Island stores across the UK and on www.river-island.com from the 24th of May.

Each item has been created by past Graduate Fashion Week students who are currently employed at River Island and embody the energy and originality of the brand. Kelis sees this as an important support system for creative's. She says- “People need help and encouragement when they’re starting out. That’s why I think what River Island is doing with fashion graduates is so great. I don’t want to look like everybody else, you know?”
“I love this collection! It’s really young and fun – the way it should be. It’s like me!”

I have to say there are some really great pieces which look and feel high end- I'm looking forward to rocking some of them this summer.

I just had some press pictures illustrated by the awesome Nabila from House Of Beela. Her illustration work is beautiful and fun and colourful, so obviously I wanted to work with her. Below is some of her work and questions I had to ask her about her influences.

NIKKI: Hi Nabila, how are you? Tell me about your work and what influences it.
NABILA: Hello Nikki,
I am fabulous thank you! I hope you are good!
Well I am a free spirit, I do and go wherever the wind blows me! I am all about freedom of expression, and celebrating life.
I have been illustrating all my life, but I have studied it for two years in an academic environment, I am a graphic design student.
I love art and design, they make my world go round.

NIKKI: Describe your style of illustration...
NABILA: I love working on portraits. I am fascinated by faces, all faces.
They are beautiful. I love to experiment and create a new way of seeing, of feeling, I love to help the viewer escape from reality into a fantasy world.
I first ask myself "what if" and then it happens, I start to create the surreal.
In terms of style, anything goes!
I try not to restrict myself, I use whatever I can find as long as it has color, and I illustrate what my heart tells me to.
This allows me to create a lot of different styles, I usually don't know what I might come up with.

NIKKI: Who and What Inspires you?
NABILA: Fashion, nature, and art, everything inspires me, absolutely everything!
Dada, Surrealism and Pop Art are my strongest influences.
Andy Warhol has influenced me a lot, I love his work.

NIKKI: What's next for you and House Of Beela in 2010?
NABILA: 2010 is looking very colorful, and I am very excited to see what I will come up with. In the mean time visit my website http://www.ibeela.com/

Sat night out at Supper Club, London

Last night I went out with my friends to Supper Club in London, where the fantastic Miss Kimberley was performing her Kabaret of Grace Jones 'Slave To The Rhythm' and I saw a really glamorous and musically brilliant performance from a classical violinist in platform boots and a leotard playing MJ. Genius.

I have been a fan of the Bum Bag since forever. I loved them on American Tourists, I loved them in the 80's and through the 90's and I still love them now even though they are having a massive resurgence and have even been featured on - gulp- This Morning!

Cassius new Specs..The 'Corbu'

I am a huge fan of everything Cassius, I wear their sunglassses almost every day without fail.
They just brought out their newest frame the Corbu, these come in a variety of colours and the classic look will go with everything.

The NRJ Awards, Cannes France- Rihanna wears Jean Paul Gaultier

Rihanna rocked up to the NRJ Awards in a Jean Paul Gaultier embroidered thigh- split gown held at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

I like her hair in this picture, it looks nice with the natural curls. Below is her live performance from the NRJ Awards, it is a bit out of tune, but her stylist really does deserve the award. Apparently she fell over during/ after this song :( poor thing.

Jay Z also performed on the night as did The Black Eyed Peas & Dave Guetta feat Kelly Rowland. I wish I knew how many of the performers on the night were really in the Masons ;) Awards for milking publicity to come...

TIMEX Brights! How cute are these new watches from Timex...

Anyone who knows me will know I love a watch & I love bright colours, so these babies from The Timex Brights collection are right up my cul-de-sac. They launched just before Christmas 09' but I have only just had time to post them up!

They are apparently suitable for 'Ironman' type sports people! ie: nut nuts (lol), which makes them pretty damn durable as well as being super-cute in design. They are Shock-Resistant to ISO Standards feature a 30-lap memory, 100-hour chronograph with lap and split options, on-the-fly lap recall, and an easy to use countdown timer.

I don't actually understand all the sports technology stuff, but I know these would look great with my high tops or Louboutin studs.

Times Brights also have customisable alarm, 2 time zone settings, and are water resistance down to 200m in case I ever feel the need to get into water above my waist... :)
