I forgot to post this the other day..My mate Kelis' new Video for Acapella

I have known this lady for more years than I care to remember, since before she took the UK by storm shouting I Hate You So Much Right Now...here is her latest offering 'Acapella'. It's been on my Mixtapes & Podcasts for the past few months and finally there is a Video.
As usual there is great fashion and Knight, K's newest little addition is in the Vid at the end :) The Video has taken the tune up a notch from Guetta's stark production. Kelis' song writing as always, is a catchy as hell and K has already had a number 1 in the USA with Acapella and just smashed it at this years Miami WMC.

Behind the Scenes on SMILERS's New Video- ENZA

Smiler's new Record ENZA is out soon. The record is hot.
Here is a look behind the scenes on the Video shoot for Enza. I find it hilarious that there are still so many chicks that wanna shake their arses in bikini's though...and I'm thoroughly glad Gaga and a couple others are redressing the balance slightly with semi naked guys in their videos. Shame most of them bat for the other side...In my Video's I want at least 15-20 young tings with 6 packs on show. Remember I said it here 1st SMILER lol :)

The World of Daggering & Skerrit Bwoy

I'm back in London from my travels & so to catching up on Blogging and studio work and some gigs in between.
I havnt Blogged anything about Daggering, partly because I'm in constant shock whenever I see Daggering videos lol. I am someone who doesn't even like anyone breathing too close to me, let alone bashing me to the ground and simulating the worst kind of sex on me. I would have to kill the predator with my bare hands.

If you don't know about Daggering then the videos below should give you a comprehensive education. Skerrit Bwoy is the main star of the show. He has risen to international notoriety from his Daggering antics. Skerrit Bwoy is also on tour with the Major Lazer DJ's who have embraced all things Dancehall- so Skerrit is getting massive exposure all over the USA at the moment. He is certifiably crazy when he MC's and I feel sorry for anyone on the receiving end of his Daggering, but they seem to love it. In one video Skerrit Bwoy actually takes a ladder- yes a ladder- to one of the dances to leap off onto one woman who is patiently waiting pon de floor...

Today's Lust Have Item...The Balmain Bullet Belt

I am away on the road at the moment, so Blogging is gonna take a hit, but I had to do a 'lust have' for today. This Balmain Belt is pretty damn fly. Bullet associations are a bit strange though, the form itself is beautiful but the item itself and the connotations...this version just looks like great big studs and as I have been a fan of studded belts forever I wanted to picture it.

The lies, the bullshit & the life of a DJ....

I know right now everyone wants to be a DJ, including models, glamour chicks, Big Brother Contestants, band members & my neighbours cousins dog, but the life of a DJ is not always sunshine, free drinks and party time.

I usually just show the shiny pictures and fun nights out on my Blog, but there is always a story of too much 'Haterade' being drunk by the competition, dramas over fees and other mishaps behind every gig.

If you wanna be a DJ for real, you will encounter in this shady business called music & clubs allot of dodgy carachters who will lie cheat and steal at every opportunity.

The rise of celebrity culture has made people even more obsessive and cut throat. There are so many people who are willing to sell their Granny's soul to the devil in order to hang out with/work with/throw a party for a celebrity, who are definitely not even events organisers or anyone in their own right.
This has brought many headaches into the clubs parties & events, not least the insatiable thirst for celebrity parties & news and pictures of famous people falling out of parties.

I definitely didn't get into DJing for any of that shite- I wanted to be a DJ and loved music. I loved the culture of DJing and illegal clubs & dancing till 6am and FUN!
Even in the early days I never really bothered about famous people or the bullshit, I am more interested in people who make music & talent. I don't like the hangers on much and even the artists- I don't treat them any differently to anyone else. I like meeting new people, but I cant face the constant arse kissing that goes along with it.

I know for a fact if I could play the game more I would get more work, but I just cant do it. I cant brown nose or suck up to anyone just because or smile when I'm being told 'don't play too much Black Music' - that's not how I was brought up- to judge people on their 'fame' materialism or whatever else people worship these days or to compromise my own views, morals or integrity.

I often see the irony of being booked as a DJ because I have DJ'd for so many high profile events, but often the promoter is only interested in the names and who you know...I just wanna know real peeps that I like- and make music with artists who I respect.

The other thing is that many events people will use me when they launch an event or club night to bring my style and music etc. Build it up get press etc then trade you in for a £50 DJ who has basically copied your whole set from the past weeks & then get rid of you. This has happened to me soooo many times its actually laughable lol- YEAH YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

These are the lyrics that they tend to buss 'Can you Blog this and promote it on your Facebook Twitter etc for us ...as well as bring some celebrities...oh and maybe we can have your first born and a kidney too?'
and 'we are getting you so much press for this- we have really pushed it for you' which translates into- 'we have used all your pictures from your website with musicians for our press, we are pushing it for ourselves and we will dash you for a cheaper DJ as soon as we get busy'

:)
I'm telling you- there is so much Party & Bullshit in this industry that don't even start out unless you have a thick skin to begin with... people are constantly emailing me asking me to teach them DJing, but really I need to teach you how to be totally manipulative & callous & maybe even free up the Narni a few times with influential people and then you will have a long career ahead of you LMFAO

and lastly have you noticed how few Female DJ's on Radio and in the public mainstay cant actually DJ and have never bothered to learn- they just put on a record, get some swarovski'd headphones and jump around in the booth a bit! C'mon, that a bit of an insult to every one's intelligence... Whereas Male DJ's are usually actual DJ's who then graduate on to presenting and other things. I think it would be lovely if Radio Stations and events would book more women on the strength of their actual technical skills, music & personality rather than whatever misguided way they are booking talent at the moment.

There are so many other lies and rubbish that I could Blog every day for the next 10yrs about them, but I think I will leave it at that for the moment....oh and don't even get me started on some of the 'DJ Agents' I have come across lol..

NIKITA Launches it's new Website

I have been a fan of NIKITA for years. I wear their clothes all the time and their pieces are my everyday DJ staples. NIKITA originates from Iceland and was born 10 years ago to make apparel for female snowboarders, skiiers & surfers. They use real women- snowboarders & surfers for all their campaign photoshoots and put money back into the sports through sponsorship.
I used to get asked every time I wore their sweats/ tops/ capes where they were from but you used to have to search to find their stuff on- line...well not anymore. Their new NIKITA website is now up, where you can buy everything and they deliver all over Europe.
Check it out, my personal favourites this season are my NIKITA zebra print harem pants.

DJing for Diddy's London Party, Amika, Ldn, Last Friday night... DJ NIKKI Beatnik & crew

On Friday night I got 'The Call' (lol) to spin for P Diddy. He was holding a last minute knee's up in London on his way back from Paris Fashion Week to the US.

The party was at Amika in West London and god knows how but with only a few hours notice the club was absolutely rammed out by the time I got there at 11.30.
I span Prince, Tinie Tempah, EPMD, Diplo, LMFAO, Beatnik, Run DMC, Loose Ends, Egypt, Terri Walker & more in the warm up to the big entrance...

In the DJ booth at Amika, wearing lace leggings, thigh high 'Flash Gordon' boots & Jeremy Scott for Adidas Oversize T

Diddy got to the Club around 1am and entered to one of his new tracks 'Angels' from his forthcoming Album 'Last Train To Paris' - weird- Beatnik did a track called the same name last year with East London artist 'AK'...

Diddy looking toward the DJ booth- 'Where's my diamond encrusted Mic DJ NIKKI?'

When Diddy came in with a bunch of people the main room in Ammika out of nowhere suddenly filled out with about double the people! All with phones in hand standing on platforms and staring in the direction of Diddy! SO WEIRD & funny at the same time. What happened to British 'cool'??!
I remember throwing a party in London with Pharrel, Missy & Eminem & a load of Hollywood actors hanging out and no-one batted an eyelid let alone bust out a camera! It's crazy, we have all become celebrity obsessed nut nuts..and yes I realise the irony as I too am posting about the party with pictures of the night, Puffy & the DJ booth- so I guess Blogs are to blame too, but maybe we could reach a happy medium of being able to rave and have fun before and after a celebrity enters the building! That would be nice :)

Me & my friend stylist Natasha Chang- Lewis

Laverne, dj nikki, artist/ producer STATIS & Ahmen Ahmed

Back to the Diddy Party...Diddy partied and did a medley of some of his brand new and older hit tracks. He got on the mic to 'Benjamins' & then his verse on 'Waka Flocka 'Flames' feat Diddy, & Lil Wayne' and Red Cafe- 'Im Ill'.

Diddy then premiered his track 'Hello Goodbye' whic has previously only been heard once in Miami a few weeks ago. I have to give it to Diddy- he always gets on the mic at his parties and hypes things- most artists dont do that, so it gives his parties a vibe.
I remember spinning for one of his parties in London in 2003 when Puffy AND Beenieman were MCing live on my set all night :)

This is my personal favourite track of his recent tunes..'Love Come Down'

Anyway- I had a really fun night- my friends came & bussed some moves on the dancefloor had a few brandies & went home very very late :) Shout to Laura C, Talia, Rob & Amika
DJ NIKKI x

I didnt have time to take video footage on Friday as I was too busy Spinning tunes so here is some past footage of Diddy Parties I have spun at in LDN Town
