My trip to Istnabul to DJ at a Fashion Show & uber- cool club night
Just after my Birthday in July, I flew to Istanbul, one of my favourite places in the world to DJ for a fashion show and club night held in 'Its A Joke' in the centre of Istanbul.
After a very early flight from Heathrow at 5.55am and no sleep the night before I landed in 37 degree heat at Istanbul's' main airport. The promoters then picked me up and took me for lunch at one of their restaurants in the middle of the city, where I dined in 5star comfort in a beautiful venue.

I then had a little time off, a little nap, sorted out my tunes, got dressed and left to go to the club. I was spinning for a fashion show by one of Istanbul's most famous designers, at a club night called I Love Tuesdays where lots of music, fashion and tv people were to watch the event and party.
After meeting the designers and models (one of who owns a super- cool vintage shop called 2nd chance) I got in the DJ booth which was high up overlooking the beautiful outside venue. The club is also a 5star restaurant, so there were lots of fabulous people having dinner and hanging out.
The decor of this venue is easily one of the most amazimng clubs I have ever seen. They have really taken care of every detail of the design and the interior and outside space blew my mind. There was a massive DJ booth built up on a plinth and an actual military tank at the other end of the venue with an 15ft model plane hanging over head. Amazing..
They had even custom built a runway into the centre of the club outside for the models.

I started spinning for the show which was very cool with an edge of glamour, lots of dresses in bright block colours. The Turkish girls were all gorgeous and did the dresses optimum justice.
I spun some Lenny Kravitz, Ting Tings, Noisettes, Beatnik, Booka Shade, La Roux and Ladyhawke for the show then played a full 2hr set after.
The gig was awesome with tons of press & papps outside after and lots of local characters hanging out.
After I did some photos my friend Jada who is from istanbul took me out to her friend Dido's club night at Sortie which was right next to the sea so you can look out onto the sea 10 meters away whilst in the club. This was allot of fun and the DJ's played lots of Turkish music in amongst the house tunes.

The next day Dido came and kindly took me all over the city to local hang- outs, by the Bosphorus, to the market and by the mosques and coffee shops. What a great day...I absolutely love Istanbul.
I have to say a big thank you to Mert and Anji who looked after me and Dido and jada for being absolutely great. The turkish hospitality is fantastic.
